Traveling near or far is inevitable for most, whether you’re taking a car, train, or plane to get there. I have traveled lots in the past, both for work and holidays, and while I probably should be a pro packer, it still gets stressful at times. Organization is the key to happily unpacking when you get to your destination. So, as a follow up to my moving post, here are a few travel hacks to keep in mind while packing for you next vacay!
- Roll it up
Roll everything, do not fold. I repeat, roll, not fold. Rolling all of your clothes save so much space in your bag and also somewhat prevents them from wrinkling. Try it out!
- Ziploc Bags
Put all of your liquids (creams, face wash, lotions, etc., etc.) in Ziploc bags because one of the worst things in the world is opening up your suitcase when you arrive and finding gooey, creamy liquids ALL over everything. Pack these in bags and secure them in the middle of your bag surrounded by clothes. So this way, if anything did happen to open during your travels, it will be contained within the bags! Yay! No mess.
You can go a step further and put plastic wrap over the opening of the bottle and then screw the top back on tightly. This will ensure your liquids will be leak-free.
Keep your clean clothes separate from your dirty ones as well as your shoes. Bring along a shoe tote or other bags to keep these separate because no one wants your dirty shoes getting all over your nice clean clothes, especially when you’re not able to wash anything when you get there.
- Passport Holder
These are actually so helpful when traveling through an airport. You can put all of your travel documents in it and keep everything organized. Because nothing is worse than being unorganized at a busy airport, talk about stress. AND they come in so many cute designs now, bonus!
- Smaller Bottles
If you are only going somewhere for a week or less, there’s no need to being a full bottle of lotion or nail polish remover. Transfer some of these products into cute little bottles to bring with you. This will also save space in your suitcase (and keep the weight of it down if there are weight restrictions)!
